‘Marry The Night’ Video: Gaga’s highly stylized, 14-minute short film for ‘Marry The Night’ has been met with largely positive reviews (and, as always, left a few others scratching their heads).  Gaga calls this the most biographical of her videos, as it tells the story of the day she was dropped from her previous record label.  Much like my Monster Ball themed set, this is what I’m calling a “theme design”.  These won’t look like much to the non-Gaga fans, but the individual nail designs form a cohesive representation of the video scenes when they’re all put together. 4PM: In prediction of her future, Gaga reveals a meeting time written on her palm at the end of the video. Base is Ivory Intuition (Sally Hansen No Chip) with “4PM” freehanded with a toothpick. “But I still had my Bedazzeler”: Gaga wreaks havoc on some denim. Base is Cloud (Revlon), sponged over with white for the acid washed look, then covered in random with rhinestones. “I’M SUCH A STAR”: After getting a phone call, Gaga has a break down and a run-in with some Cheerios. Base is Ivory Intuition, smeared with red and black to match her makeup and a few gold sequins for “Cheerios”.  I cut this nail jagged to go with the ‘broken/break down’ of the scene. “I have nothing left to lose”: The prelude opens with Gaga seen in a “woman’s clinic”, after she states in her narration that she thinks “mint will be very big next Spring”.  Base is Mint Sorbet (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear) with a black medical cross overlay. Trans Am: Continuing with the body modification theme we’ve seen throughout this era, Gaga wears a black rubbery outfit made from a body cast, to mirror Yuyi the mermaid’s gills from ‘You And I’.  I used puffy paint to create the ridges, however, it didn’t photograph very well. I’m not thrilled with how all of these turned out (or how they photographed, rather), so I may be doing more ‘Marry The Night’ inspired designs at a later date.  There’s a lot of detail in this video that can be drawn from, so I’m not done yet! I’m going to try to have a special holiday post up next weekend, so stay tuned! ox PPU
