It’s been a little while but I’m back with some new nails!  I love this set.  I’m a sucker for bold graphic patterns and although Gaga doesn’t go this route often, when she does you can count on seeing some matching nails over here!
Back in March, Gaga was catching a flight in London when she was photographed strutting through the airport in this lovely latex number.  This is one of my favorite candid looks from her, so of course I had to attempt it in nail form!
For this look I did a base coat of yellow, followed by the purple half-moons.  Doing the moons before the stripes is a must as this will help position the pattern.  The stripes are a little tricky.  I have some goofy looking nails on my right hand from trail-and-error.  I’m not sure if there’s an easier way to get crisp lines with nail polish, but once I did a couple good looking nails it became clockwork and went a lot quicker!  The secret for these is painter’s tape!  (Yep—the blue stuff!)  Starting above the moon on each nail, I cut a little angle out of the tape and stuck it on, followed by two skinny strips for between the lines, and ending with an inverted angle.  Or just four skinny matching strips if that makes sense.  Once that much was dry I went back over some crummy areas using the yellow and black polish and a tiny paint brush.
If you do any patterned nails similar to these I highly recommend finishing them with a clear top coat.  Not only will it smooth out the areas where separate applications (or colors) of polish are slightly raised, but it also make the lines look cleaner!
